Autumn Leaf Coasters
I spotted some super cute leaf shaped trivets in the newest Martha Stewart and was pretty smitten with the idea! The thing is… we don’t really have a need for trivets. We don’t even really sit at the table all that much and I knew they’d never get used. So I though, what about coasters? With thin cork you can basically cut out any shape you want and could even customize a set for every season – sold!
They’re super simple to make, all you need is a bit of thin cork. You can either trace a leaf (or cut out) onto the back side or just free hand draw a leaf shape and then carefully cut out with an exacto or utility knife. If you have any trouble with the the smaller sections ripping you can usually just use a dab of glue on the back side and theyre good as new.
I’m in love them! Wouldn’t they look adorable for the table on Thanksgiving?
Cute! I love this idea~http://theoccasionalindulgence.blogspot.com
These are amazing! They would look stunning painted too- maybe gold! So beautiful and perfect for autumn/winter! I love your blog, so so lovely!
I love those! and I have some cork… I was just wondering if u had a printable template??
Thanks Yukiko! I’m sorry, I don’t! I’m still learning how to make those sorts of things, so hopefully one of these days…I just googled “leaf outlines” and printed them out to size though, so that might help!
Perfect! I think coasters are cuter than a trivet anyway!
pretty! and they’d look super classy if you dipped the tips in gold :).
