Simple DIY Fall Table Centerpiece

Whether you’re planning Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or just looking to add some extra fall to your everyday table, you don’t need to break the bank to do it. You can easily create a beautiful fall table scape easily and affordably with just a few simple items you may already have on hand.

Whether you love fall, or (like me) are sad to see summer, this autumn inspired table centerpiece can add a simple a beautiful seasonal touch to your dining room, while still leaving you room to actually eat at your table! One of the things I love most about this one is that it’s all contained on this slab. So when we have a few extra people over and need some extra space it’s easy to pick up all at once and move to the side board and use as decor there!

I only purchased the pumpkins for this centerpiece, everything else I already had on hand! I love to challenge myself to style using  decor I already own and think outside the box by using pieces I normally wouldn’t (like this scrap wood plank I found in our basement!). No worries if you don’t have anything already around you can use – it’s still easy and cheap to find similar items! How To : DIY Fall Centerpiece

  • A wide piece of board – I used a spare piece of 2×10 pine that my husband had leftover from house projects. You can take a stroll down the lumber isle and pick whatever speaks to you! Before you go, measure your table and figure out how long you want your board. They can cut it down for you right there so you don’t have to struggle with a too long piece. Once you get it home you can stain or finish it if you want. I left mine natural for now, but am thinking about giving it a good staining!   Don’t want to go the DIY route? You could also use an extra long cutting or cheese board for an equally beautiful look!
  • Brass candlestick holders – I’ve been collecting my taper holders from thrift stores for years. I typically get them for a dollar or two and they have a gorgeous patina already. Don’t want to dig through thrift stores? You can easily find them available online (I’m loving these ones from Target!)
  • Pumpkins! – You can’t forget pumpkins for a fall tablescape, right? I got all of these for just a few dollars at a local small farm market. I love sprinkling these mini pumpkins all throughout the house, but they’re especially perfect for centerpieces!
  • Clippings – I love working in some greenery wherever I can. I took my clipping from the Nordic Pine tree in my yard, but you can use anything. For an easy swap you could even grab for eucalyptus from the store to mix in instead!
  • Fairy Lights – I just wanted to add an extra little touch of light and I never get tired of using fairy lights. I especially love them for fall and winter tables, with the sun going down earlier it just adds a little something magical when they slowly become more evident with the fading sun. I have tons on hand for the holidays, but you can easily find them for cheap both in stores and online

Tips for Creating a Beautiful Fall Table on a Budget

  • Choose a color pallet. The most important step towards creating a beautiful table setting is figuring out your color pallet. In case you haven’t figured it out before, I tend towards neutrals, sometimes adding a few pops of color to brighten things up. If you already have one or two pieces in mind that you want to use on your table you can start with those colors and figure out complimentary colors to build off of from there.
  • Use natural elements. Pumpkins, clippings, and plants are all great and budget friendly ways to add a lot of beauty to a table. Pine clippings typically last longer than other clippings, which makes them one of my favorites to use in the fall and winter.
  • Use evergreen elements. White candles are a go-to for me. I use them for decorating in every season. Here’s the big secret – most of them I buy from the dollar store! They’re a great neutral element that adds some class and elegance without being too attention drawing.
  • Keep it simple. In the end, you want your table to be functional. I always hate having to move centerpieces on and off for meals, so keep your decor functional. By leaving some space at either end of this centerpiece there’s room for food, extra plates, or anything else you may need to use your table for real.
