Neutral Accent Wall Ideas and Inspiration

Been dreaming of a fun addition to your room, but wondering what color accent walls go with your beloved gray, white, and beige walls? These neutral accent wall ideas are for you!

Here’s a cheat sheet that are perfect if you aren’t quite ready to commit to a bright, saturated wall. Whether you love grays, whites, or beiges, these accent wall ideas will give you all the inspiration you need to try something new!

Half and Half Color Blocked Accent Wall

Looking for a perfect accent color to match with Sherwin Williams Alabaster White? Look no further than Valspar’s Everlasting! I love how these two colors paired in our entry way to create a half and half color blocking on the walls. Since they’re both warm colors they compliment each other well, while still keeping the space feeling neutral and calming.

Full Dark Gray Accent Wall

Dark colorful paints are coming back in vogue. While I know I’m not ready to give up my bright and cheery rooms, I love the idea of adding a dark accent wall. If you’re not ready to go full-in and add a saturated color to your space (don’t worry, I’m not either!) consider adding just one dark grey or charcoal accent wall for some drama and depth. I love how Little House of Four paired two grays together to create a really beautiful, but neutral, statement wall!

Decal Accent Wall

Want to try out an accent wall, but still don’t want to fully commit? Wall decals are a great option. These neutral line wall decals are the perfect way to add a fun wall to your space, without getting out a single paint brush. I love the subtle print they add without being overwhelming. There are tons of great wall decal options on etsy!

Board and Batten

A great way to add interest to a wall without committing to some crazy color is with board and batten! Whether you choose to keep the same color on your board and batten, or accent it, there’s really no wrong choice. Board and batten is a lot easier to install than you may think, and in most cases you don’t even need tools. I love the look of this all-neutral room with an accept wall of board and batten – it’s got me inspired!

Color Block Painted Arch Accent Wall

The guest room is painted one of my favorite soft beige colors, Cappuccino White by Glidden, and after a few years I realized the room desperately needed a little something special and I decided to try my hand at a color block painted arch accent wall behind the desk. The color I went with for the arch is Cinnamon Brulee by Valspar, and it’s hands down one of my favorite colors to pair to a beige wall!

Wood Slat Accent Wall

I love this idea for adding interest to a small wall! It’s simple, minimal tools are needed, and the wood grain gives such a good texture and warm color to a space. I love how Cynthia added it to a small wall that is right up against her own board and batten wall – the combination is so lovely! Make sure you check out her post to get all the details on how to make your own wood slat accent wall.

Still Unsure?

If you’re still having trouble pulling the trigger on an accent wall, opt for paint or decals. Decals are especially easy, since they can be removed quickly if you aren’t loving the look. Paint is also a quick fix if you don’t love the outcome. If you’re a neutral room lover, like me, I suggest staying with another neutral for your accent wall before pushing yourself to go too crazy with color – often just that little change makes a huge difference!
