Every year it feels like I’m planning beach trips and crossing my fingers that Mr. Softee will stop on our block, and then I turn around and the Holidays are already here. The last two years we’ve traveled over Christmas and the New Year, so I didn’t bother decorating at all, but this year is different!
In years past when I worked retail I always insisted on waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate for the Holidays, but this year I’m all in. I’ve especially been enjoying changing out our table centerpiece regularly and finding new fun (and cheap!) ways to bring in some Holiday cheer.
Simple Holiday Table DIY
You may recall I used this same wood plank on my fall table. I loved it as a center focus, so I decided to stick with the same base but update it for more of a Holiday feel! One of my favorite things about it is that it’s not exclusive to any Holiday, and could easily continue to live on your table for all of winter and not feel out of place!
How to Create a Simple Christmas Table
Starting with a wood plank as a base, I layered in various sizes of tin houses, bottlebrush trees, and candles. Then I wove some LED wire fairy lights through everything to add a little extra glow come nightfall! To see the full video of me putting this table together, you can see it on my Instagram!
Tips for Decorating a Winter or Holiday Table
If you want a simple Christmas table centerpiece you can set and forget for beyond the holidays, stick with basics like trees, snowy decor, and candles. More generic greenery, like eucalyptus, is also great for extending your centerpiece beyond the holidays!
