Thanksgiving Table Guide 2023

Thanksgiving in America always feels a bit like that lost middle child (which I deeply relate to). Shoved between Halloween and Christmas, with black Friday nipping at it’s heels. Most influencers jump into full-on holiday mode on November 1st so it often feels like Thanksgiving is a bit forgotten about.

Personally, I’m rarely ready for Christmas decor right after packing away my Halloween things. Decor-wise I actually find Thanksgiving to be a nice transitional period. Letting me savor the last bits of fall, while setting a nice base for the holiday decor to come. Here’s what I’m dreaming up for Thanksgiving table decor this year – I love the idea of mixing and matching more nature-inspired motifs with a few fun bits of color.

I already have the solid tablecloth and napkins from Target – both of which I used for our Thanksgiving last year and still love! I adore the idea of adding this gorgeous embroidered table runner to the mix to add a little more pattern and interest to the table. Typically I’m not too into overtly turkey things, but these little placecard holders really grabbed me for some reason. Usually we don’t do specific place settings with out family, but I really love the idea anyway (and maybe you could just use them for a cute note for guests if you’re not doing assigned seating?)

Last year I thrifted a whole set of plates that look really similar to these french style ones. They’re such a great basic to have, and you could easily spice up the setting by layering fun dessert plates like these to add some interest. I also hit the jackpot last year and was able to thrift all of the silverware I needed. I’ve been moving away from the more minimalist plain styles to loving silverware with a little weight and decorative handles like these!
