If you or your special someone is a chocolate lover, bets are that a good chocolate mousse is at the top of your favorite dessert list. Who can resist a decadant and ultra rich chocolate mousse, and what better time than for Valentines day (or really anytime)? This recipe comes together quickly and easily, with only a few kitchen staples. The most challenging part is taking your time folding in the whipped cream, but I promise you it’s worth just a little bit of patience!
Chocolate Mousse for Two
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet, or dark if you prefer)
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream (divided)
- 1 Tbsp Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Combine 1 cup of chocolate chips with 1/3 cup of heavy cream and microwave until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth, checking often. Let fully cool to room temperature.
- With an electric mixer whisk together 2/3 cup of heavy cream, 1 Tablespoon of powdered sugar, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate until fully combined (make sure you chocolate is fully cooled or it will just turn your whipped cream into soup!).
- Transfer and divide between two ramekins. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
How to get the look
If you want to re-create the candy heart look on your chocolate mousse, its really simple! I used these stencils, laying them right on top of the chocolate mousse and dusting with powdered sugar. It’s that easy!
I recommend waiting to add the powdered sugar until right before you’re ready to serve, as it will absorb into the mousse if it sits too long.
