Urban Outfitters Top + Shorts // Nine West Boots

I'm all about that simple summer dressing. Even though I love skirts and dresses, I'm a basics girl at heart, so shorts are my every-day wear. It's easy to get stuck in a rut of just throwing on cut-off and tanks (especially since we've been working on the house a lot), so I love to mix things up with high rise shorts paired with lightweight button-downs or a fun off-the-shoulder top, swapping out sandals for booties, and as always, a bandana is my favorite way to add a little pop of color.

It's a nice and easy look when I actually clean myself up once or twice a week:)

4 Ways to style a Bandana

How to Style a Bandana

Who doesn't love pieces that can do double (or triple..) duty? I'm all about it. Especially if you're traveling, those chameleon pieces can be life savers. Bandanas have been my favorite go-to for a while now! They're super lightweight and can be worn so many different ways!

My favorites?

  • Hide a bad hair day - Throwing it up with a bandana is a cute and easy fix, especially when your hair is in desperate need of washing!
  • Choker - use a bandana as jewelry replacement, wrap it around twice and tie it off with a little knot!
  • Throw it back to a classic "Scout" look by twisting it and then tying it off in the front!
  • Use a bandana as just a basic scarf and tie it up in the back.

And of course...

Twin time! Dutch always wears her bandana to work too :)

Today I went out and did some serious grocery shopping. There was a few weeks there where I was doing great eating meals at home everyday. That's been kind of one of my "resolutions" for this year, to eat at home more and make most of it all from scratch. Then Frank got sick last week (do you feel the excuse coming?) and so he was making pizza less (did I mention he make the best pizza ever, because he does) and I had been lazy going to the grocery store and stuff so I ended up picking us up take out almost every night. But now I'm trying to get back on the wagon (or off? I guess it depends on whether it's the home-made food wagon or the take out wagon) and get back to cooking and feeling a little better about what I eat.

On totally unrelated news to both the last paragraph and an outfit post (although I suppose it's slightly related somehow?), I noticed my hair is already starting to fade. Not that surprising since my hair is stubborn and doesn't enjoy change. I already picked up some more "intense" bleach to try to save it from going back completely. Anyone else had that problem before?
