This audio is one my favorites! I truly do believe a “good eye” can do a lot more than any amount of money can. There are plenty of people out there with never ending money, but zero personal style (which maybe isn’t important to them, That’s fine too).

Developing an “eye” is more about honing in on your personal style. Paying attention to what things inspire you, and being willing to play around and maybe make a few “mistakes” along the way!

I found these two in different parts of the same thrift store, but to me they just screamed that they were meant to be together

Plaid lampshade? You had me at hello. Together they give me cozy English cottage meets Nora Ephron vibes in the BEST way, and that’s my hopes and dreams for our cottage in 2024 🫶

A short film about two penguins 🫶

I thrifted these s+p shakers last year and they’ve turned into one of my favorite bits of kitchen decor for the holidays✨❤️

They are aren’t a “technical” match so I named them Burt and Ernie, and like to imagine all the high jinx they get into at night (surely they like to take a dive into the marshmallow jar every now and again, right?).

I’ve been noticing more and more “fun” s+p shakers like these at new stores lately, so I think they’re making a come back! Are you loving the return of kitschy kitchen decor as much as I am?

WHAT I LEARNED 👇

This was my first year making a gingerbread house completely from scratch. The first try? Didn’t turn out so good, but here’s what I learned and took into my second attempt:

• the gingerbread recipe is the entire backbone of the project, so make sure it’s a good one! Looking back, the first recipe I used clearly had some issues. For my second try I use the NYT gingerbread house recipe and it worked SO much better 👌

• decorate your pieces and let them dry before assembling the house. Trying to add fun decorative flourishes is a headache when you’re working at an angle, so do it while you can still let your pieces lay flat.

• the fridge is your friend! I kept my house small enough that I could easily stick the whole thing in the fridge, which was really great for speeding up the drying time on the icing, especially when it came time to assemble the house!

• have fun! If you’re frustrated the whole time, maybe take a beat and come back later. I’m so glad I decided to cut my losses on that first house (I was NOT having fun) and was able to really enjoy my second try!
